We are excited to welcome another freshman class onto our campus next school year.  Below is information on getting cleared for summer weights and practice, times for strength and conditioning if you want to begin the process of building strength for your sport, and specifics on off-season training programs by sport.  

Medical Clearance:

Aktivate:  All Athletes must be cleared through our medical portal, https://www.registermyathlete.com/login/.  Every athlete will need a physical on the 2025-26 AIA Physical form.  The physical must have taken place after March 1, 2025.  Please use this link to download the 2025-26 AIA Physical Form.https://www.vailschooldistrict.org/o/mmhs/page/athletics

Physical Clinic at Mica Mountain:
When: Wednesday May 21, 2025
Where: Thunderdome-Gym
Cost : $20
Time: 5:30-7pm

Please make sure to bring your 2025/26 AIA physical form FILLED out BEFORE you arrive. (DO NOT FILL OUT THE PHYSICAL EXAMINATION SECTION)

Summer Strength and Conditioning :

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM - ALL Incoming MICA MOUNTAIN

Freshman Athletes.  All freshman athletes  that are planning on lifting for the summer must attend the 8:00 am sessions.  

Summer Strength Training Dates: June 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th.  (Monday - Thursday) - Training

Friday OFF, NO Training 

June 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th (Monday - Thursday) -Training

Friday OFF, NO Training 

June 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th (Monday - Thursday) -

Training Friday OFF, NO Training 

June 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th (Monday - Thursday) -

June 30th, July 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, (Monday - Friday) -  NO TRAINING. Off for 4th of July week

July 14th-July 17th - MORNING WEIGHT ROOM CLOSED. Teachers and Staff Report Back. July

18th, First Day of School for students.

Fall Sports

Cross Country:

Interested in running Cross Country? We'd LOVE to get to know you and your parents. Consider attending the Cross Country Parent Info meeting on Thursday, May 15th at 6pm in Coach Farr's room 313. We'll discuss summer training schedules and weights, what the season looks like, how Cross Country is different from other sports, and a bunch of the cool things we do to make this one of the most deeply connected programs on campus. Freshman and Transfer students interested in trying out for the Cheer team should join the Fall Tryout BAND for information regarding the upcoming season!

Boys/Girls Swim:

Mica Mountain Swim welcomes Thunderbolts interested in swimming! There are no tryouts and all levels are welcome. 

We encourage all athletes to participate in summer strength training at MMHS. 

We also encourage all incoming swimmers to swim for a team this summer (SAAA or City of Tucson teams are excellent options). For more information about schedules and summer training, please contact Coach Kim Farr at farrk@vailschooldistrict.org  and sign up for Remind text messages by texting the code @micaswim to 81010.

Girls Basketball:

We would love you to come on out and to start getting to know what our girls basketball program has to offer. We currently have an open gym/camp every Wednesday and Friday night from 7-8:30 pm that is running now through May 16th.  It’s $20 total to come to all the sessions.  We will also be running our summer practice and skill building starting May 26th and running through June 24th. We will be in the gym Monday through Thursday from 3:30-5:30 pm during those dates and it’s free and open to all incoming Mica Mountain students.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.
