Letter from the Principal
Dear Thunderbolt Families,
Welcome to Mica Mountain High School, home of the Thunderbolts.
I want to take this time to introduce myself. I am Nemer Hassey, a Tucson native who graduated from Sabino High School and the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in education, focusing on math. I graduated with a master’s degree in leadership and administration from Northern Arizona University. I began as a math teacher and football coach at Sahuaro High School and shortly thereafter joined the Vail School District to help build and develop Cienega High School. I am humbled to serve as the principal of the newest school in the Vail School District, Mica Mountain High School. I have been in education for over 30 years; it is clear that Mica Mountain is a special place with exceptional staff, students, and parents who care deeply for each other.
Moving into a new school and community can be very stressful and difficult. Please know we are here for you and will guide you to success. Our daily mission is to Build Outstanding Leaders Through Service (BOLTS). Our vision is to build a foundation for students to influence the world through various academic and extracurricular opportunities, emphasizing Academic Achievement, Leadership, Character Development, and Collaboration.
At Mica Mountain, we offer high academics and many extracurricular activities. Our fine arts, Career and Technical Education, and athletic programs aim to be amongst the best in the state. We also have an extensive number of clubs which students can join.
Do not hesitate to reach out to our staff and administration for assistance.
Thank you for choosing Mica Mountain High School. Go Thunderbolts!!
We are Mountain Strong!!!
Sincerely,
Nemer Hassey
Principal
