appeals

We are beginning the process of attendance appeals for this semester for students who have acquired 9 or more absences in one or more classes. The Arizona Department of Education and district policy requires students to be present in their classes for at least 90% of the scheduled days. Those with excessive absences (9 or more)  may lose credit for the semester. Because we understand there may be extenuating circumstances to excessive absences, absence appeals for loss of credit can be made. To find up-to-date attendance and grade information, go to the parent login on PowerSchool at (https://ps.vail.k12.az.us/public/home.html)

Students identified with excessive absences will receive an email on Monday, May 5th stating that they have the opportunity to schedule an appointment with our attendance appeals committee. Students can do this on their own; however, we always welcome a parent/guardian's desire to be a part of the process. If you would like to join via phone or in person, please coordinate with your student to select a time & date that works for both of you.

Parent/guardians and students will be notified via email if an excessive absence appeal is not granted and will be given further information at that time.

Should you have any questions regarding attendance appeals, please contact our Dean of Students, Mr. Howell, at [email protected]. Thank you for partnering with us in your student’s education.

Sincerely,
Administration
